Project Manager
ON - Mississauga
Opportunity Overview
It's all about timing. . . and the time for opportunity is now: What better place to propel your PM career to new heights than with a growing, global supplier that is postured to capitalize on the emerging nuclear energy renaissance?
We're looking for a project manager extraordinaire who can manage costs and deliverables, expertly navigating staff and resources through the complex thicket of the entire project life-cycle to make a project happen. Our order book has around 50-60 projects ranging from $10,000 to $1.5M and you will be spearheading all aspects of these projects ranging from order receipt and identification of key resources to problem identification, risk management, tracking, scheduling and budgeting.
To be a good fit for this opportunity, you will ideally have a JIT and/or Military/Engineering background along with a track record of success in managing large to medium projects. Of course, as in any role involving diverse stakeholders in a global environment, you will also have the interpersonal finesse (adhering to international business protocol/etiquette as you maintain sensitivity to international time zones and cultural nuances) to coordinate the different moving parts of the project as you articulate the strategic project vision, influence the team to embrace this vision and relentlessly drive it to completion.
Newman Hattersley Limited (NHL) has a 50-year legacy of providing advanced valve technologies for next-generation nuclear power reactors. We are uniquely positioned to seize market share and capitalize on the renewed interest in nuclear; in fact, while other businesses are slowing down in this recessionary economy, we plan to double in size over the next 2-3 years. We are part of the CCI family, the world's leading expert in providing engineered valve, actuation, and control solutions that enhance performance and reliability in critical plant applications.
What Else You'll Bring to the Table
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 3-5 years of prior valve or engineered product experience; must have knowledge of pricing, negotiations, cost estimating, risk analysis, delivery, billing and special terms/conditions in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Project Management tools/techniques (earned value management & MS Project).
- Knowledge of order management/administration including contract provisions and precedents.
- Understanding of NDE operations.
- Knowledge of International & Canadian contract law.
- Proven relationship building, problem solving and customer service skills.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills with the professional maturity to influence and interact with internal/external customers at various levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in a MS Office suite environment, including Word and Excel.
- Confidence and self-motivation paired with a team player mentality.
Preferred but not required:
- PEO (Professional Engineer of Ontario) or PMP (Project Management Professional) certification(s).
- Prior nuclear industry background/experience.
- Bilingual in English and French/Spanish/German.
What's in It for You
- Ground floor opportunity to make a discernible impact -- you'll get to shape this newly created role and " make your mark" in short order as you ensure successful execution of project milestones/deliverables. We will also look to you to come in with a fresh set of eyes and identify opportunities for improvements in our systems/processes.
- Broad visibility -- you will interact with our organization's key cross-functional players--including engineering, quality assurance, purchasing, production and finance--providing you with unique insight into our business and plenty of recognition for your achievements.
- Variety/skill development -- there is nothing status quo about this role; in fact, each day will bring its own unique challenges and you'll get to flex your mental agility as you troubleshoot creative solutions to overcome these bottlenecks/obstacles. Our dynamic environment features learning in the forefront and will gain exposure to a plethora of experiences that will greatly strengthen your development as a project management professional.
- Career growth -- we place a strong emphasis on employee development and succession planning and you'll ideally be positioned to evolve along multiple career paths, both within Newman Hattersley and also take advantage of numerous international opportunities within our parent company, CCI.
- Great company culture -- we've taken a proactive approach to developing an atmosphere that helps our people create success. You'll join a fun, innovative, group who work hard and love what they do. We also offer optimal work-life balance and assuming you're getting the job done, we'll offer a degree of flexibility in your schedule.
- Excellent compensation -- in addition to a competitive salary and bonus potential, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical/dental; 3-weeks of vacation; half-day Fridays; and more.
