Opportunity Snapshot

If you are a process-oriented marketing professional with big-picture vision and the organizational savvy to drive results, this position offers you the opportunity to make a significant and highly visible impact as part of a major corporate-wide initiative. Your mission will be to consolidate and standardize a broad body of marketing and technical information, from product specs to tribal knowledge, and coordinate how that information is disseminated in training programs and marketing collaterals. Your success in this role could set you up to pursue promotional opportunities within our organization -- CCI Valve is the leader in the severe service industrial control valve market and, while others in this space are slowing and even cutting back, we are looking to significantly grow our market position.

You will develop and formalize marketing and branding standards, including managing the cultural change involved in ensuring their adoption, and lead the development and coordination of a comprehensive training program for the company. To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have a demonstrated ability to create, implement, and coordinate marketing, MarCom and/or product management processes on a global scale, ideally in B2B or B2I companies with a large number of custom engineered products. We're looking for a professional with solid technical knowledge, preferably related to the energy or valve industries. Experience with training is a strong plus.

CCI has earned the reputation as the "Severe Service Solution Provider" with a 40 plus year legacy of solving customers' unique valve application problems with our patented DRAG TM technology and focus on engineering leadership and innovation. Among other markets, we are uniquely positioned to capitalize on the emerging nuclear energy renaissance as we continue our upward trajectory.

What Else You'll Bring to the Table

The ideal candidate will have hands on experience with both marketing and training. This could be a great opportunity for a product line or brand manager to leverage that expertise at a broader level. In addition to the qualifications detailed above, you'll need: Preferred but not required: You also will need to be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time. One of your key objectives will be to take our training programs virtual, so this percentage should diminish over time. In addition to our world headquarters in Southern California, you probably will travel to Asia and Europe, and perhaps other locations as well.

What's in It for You

Broad and visible impact -- we have created this role as part of a larger initiative to ensure we have the infrastructure in place to support our ongoing growth. While the role has significant tactical components, there are solid opportunities for a strategic thinker to create processes and tools that move the market.

The industry sector for control valves -- if you are not already familiar with the industrial control valve industry, there are three sub-sectors: commodity valves, general service valves, and engineered valves. CCI Valve commands the largest market share in the latter sector, and many of our employees will tell you that the mental, spiritual, and physical challenges of this sector energize them on a daily basis.

Career development -- we place an enormous focus on professional development and you will play a key role in ensuring we deliver on that commitment . . . and that goes for you, too. You will have multiple high profile opportunities to showcase your potential to move up in the organization.

Great company culture -- we've taken a proactive approach to developing an atmosphere that helps our people create success. You'll join a fun, innovative group of professionals who work hard and love what they do.

Excellent compensation -- in addition to a competitive salary and bonus incentive program, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental and life insurance plans; a 401(k) plan; holidays; flexible spending; tuition assistance; and more.

More About Your Role

For the past 18 months we have been restructuring CCI from the ground up, driven by a carefully culled team of industry leading executives. Prior to the restructuring, Marketing was a relatively small adjunct to sales, but we are now building out a complete Marketing organization. Within this new organization you will assume leadership of Marketing Services, with a mission of creating and presenting measurably impactful marketing and training materials. You will report to the Senior Director, Marketing.

You will divide your time and efforts fairly evenly between two key areas: overseeing the collection, development and distribution of marketing collaterals, and developing and coordinating technical training materials and programs for Engineering, Sales and Marketing as well as Customers. The priorities are high in both areas, and you'll take over leadership of activities already under way.

In support of both areas you will build a repository of knowledge, gathering and consolidating knowledge and tools that currently are dispersed around the company and around the world. The goal will be to create a powerful tool that assimilates and catalogs this information so that we can leverage it effectively. For the most part this will involve coordinating among internal and external resources, but you also will make plenty of hands-on contributions. Some processes and resources are in place but there is still much for you to drive. We just brought a new LMS online, for instance, but you will take the lead on promoting it.

With regard to coordinating marketing collaterals you will ensure that they take full advantage of the knowledge repository. A key goal in this area will be to make sure we have clearly documented brand and editorial standards in place. But that's the easy part. One of your biggest challenges will be ensuring the universal and consistent use of these standards. This will require you to be a cultural change agent as much as a marketing leader, instituting processes in a company that is not highly process oriented.

In the area of training your objective will be to ensure we utilize the knowledge repository to develop and deliver comprehensive multimedia technical training programs for internal and external stakeholders. You will work with and manage vendors in most areas -- such as needs assessment, content and materials development, delivery, and evaluating effectiveness -- and also coordinate logistics such as scheduling training meetings, launching online resources, and more.

Keys to Success

To excel in this role you will have the organizational savvy not only to create processes, but even more importantly to promote them around the corporation, selling users on the value these processes can add. And that assumes that you will, in fact, create processes that add measurable value. In addition, in order to be an outstanding Marketing Services Manager, you will: If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity for you, and you meet the minimum qualifications, we want to hear from you!
